Armed Robbery Suspect Sentenced - News Dept. on 4:54:49 PM EDT
Another man involved in the armed robbery of Jumpin Jim's Marathon last year has been sentenced recently in Hardin County Common Pleas Court.

According to documents from Prosecutor Brad Bailey's Office, Jesse Ross Fry was sentenced to a total of five years in prison on one count of aggravated robbery with a firearm specification and two counts breaking and entering.

Also in Court, Robert Stephen Dyer Jr. was sentenced to three years in prison on one count of escape.

Placed on three years community control with numerous conditions were:

.Ryan Patrick Bopp on one count each of illegal conveyance of drugs and theft of credit cards.

.Christopher Michael Henry Aufdencamp on one count of burglary.

.Greggory Paul Weaver on one count of receiving stolen property.

.Charina N. Weaks on one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs.

All cases were heard by Judge William D. Hart.

Dedication Ceremony Planned for the 4th - News Dept. on 4:54:01 PM EDT
Cherry Street Park will be renamed in honor of a hometown hero this Saturday July 4th.

The park will be renamed the Brigadier General John Michael Murray park in honor of General Murray this Saturday at 1:30pm. The generals daughter Jennie Furlow spoke with WKTN Radio regarding her fathers career and how the promotion came about.

The dedication ceremony will again be held on Saturday July 4th at the Cherry Street Park at 1:30pm.

Diabetes Workshops Planned - News Dept. on 4:52:55 PM EDT
A program series dealing with diabetes is scheduled for three evenings later this month.

OSU Educator Kathy Oliver said it is an educational program for diabetics and their family members.

Forest Man Dies Following Saturday Morning Crash - News Dept. on 3:52:21 PM EDT
A Forest man died from injuries he suffered in a one vehicle crash this past Saturday morning.

According to information from the Findlay Post of the Ohio State patrol, 41 year old Anthony Messenger died Thursday morning at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. The crash occurred around 4:30 Saturday morning on County Road 175. Messenger's car went off the road and struck a tree.

New President and CEO Named at Liberty Bank - News Dept. on 3:51:45 PM EDT
As of July 1, Liberty National Bank has a new President and CEO.

The Board of Directors announced in a release that Ronald L. Zimmerly Jr. was promoted and assumed his new duties yesterday. He replaces William Carr, who retired June 30.

Zimmerly is a 23 year veteran in the banking industry. He joined Liberty Bank in 1999.

Crash Claims The Life of Forest Man - News Dept. on 3:33:27 PM EDT
A 20 year old Forest man was killed in a two vehicle crash around 6:50 Wednesday morning on State Route 37, a half mile north of Forest.

According to Trooper Bob Burd, of the Findlay Post of the Ohio State Patrol, Mark Gillfillan was driving south of State Route 37 when his vehicle travelled left of center into the path of a northbound semi being operated by 38 year Joseph Schnarre, of Wapakoneta. In an attempt to avoid a head on collision, Schnarre swerved to the left. At the same time, Gillfillan swerved back into the southbound lane where the two vehicles collided.

Gillfillan was pronounced dead at the scene. Schnarre was taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, where he was treated and released.

SR 37 was closed for around four hours Wednesday morning. The crash remains under investigation.

Wind Turbine Company Meets With Public - News Dept. on 3:31:07 PM EDT
JW Great Lakes Wind LLC representives met with residents and officials of Hardin County at a public information meeting Tuesday night at ONU in Ada. The purpose of the meeting was for residents to ask questions about the JW project and meet the project managers. JW Great Lakes Wind LLC plans to build, operate and maintain a wind farm located around State Route 81 in Washington Township. The project will be located between Dola and Ada. It will house 19 to 27 wind turbines and has the potential to produce around 50 Mega Watts of power. Thus far 20 landowners have signed up for the program. Ralf Krueger, Co Chief Operating Officer for Juwi Wind Corp stated that the project was moving along smoothly. He stated that the corporation will apply for a permit soon and begin the design process, which will be followed by the bidding process and construction. The project is expected to be complete in either 2011 or 2012.

Community Activist Passes Away - News Dept. on 3:29:43 PM EDT
Russell Norman passed away Tuesday morning. He was 95 years old. Norman was quite well known and loved in the community for his years of service to many organizations. He was born in Hardin County, graduated from Kenton High School and worked for 32 years as a Rural Mail Carrier, after which he worked for the R.E. Allen Candy Company. Norman was involved in the St. Johns United Church of Christ in Kenton where he was a deacon, a member of the Kenton Latham Lodge #154 where he was a Master of the Lodge in 1966 and is currently a 60 year member. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Past president of the Hardin County Auto Club and the Hardin County Mail Carriers Association, a leader of Boy Scout Troop #122 for 15 years, active in the Hardin County United Way since its founding, and was a current member and past President of the Kenton Kiwanis Club.

In addition Russel Norman was named the 2008 Hardin County Citizen of the Year this past February. Services will be held at the St. Johns United Church of Christ this Friday July 3rd at 10:30am. Visitation will be at the Schindewolf Stevens Stout Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 on Thursday July 2nd. Memorials may be made to the St. Johns United Church of Christ or the Kenton Masonic Temple.
